Ola Froggies!
« on: October 20, 2014, 03:15:50 PM »
Hello all,

New to the forum. My love of the 205GTi brought me here.

My mother had two of them when I was a kid in the UK. She bought a white, second hand 205 1.6 GTI in around 1988 and then a BRAND NEW black 1.9 in 1990, which (she being a destroyer of cars) slowly killed over the next five or so years despite loving it dearly (she even put diesel in it once). I'll try to dig up some photos of them and post. So my purpose in life is to find a 205 GTI and take care of it dearly.

If anyone knows of one for sale or soon to be for sale, I would be forever grateful.

My current cars:

Fulfilling my hot-hatch addiction, my daily drive '97 Daihatsu Charade Detomaso:

Fulfilling my quest for adventure and breaking down in new parts of the country, my '71 Landrover IIA

Fulfilling my sick need to drive a car that wants to kill you, my '65 Spitfire with a 2L Celica lump.

Lovely to meet you all.

A 205 will do all of the above. Three in one. Welcome.

I would part with two out of those three for a 205, but the Land Rover and I have been through too much together! Plus a 205 can't carry 11!

Welcome! My SIIA Landie was the reason I started working on my own cars - not by choice but of necessity!

There's been a fair few 205s coming up lately - anything in particular you're after?

I would be into either a 1.6 or a 1.9 GTI. I think they both seem to have their pluses. The reason I love my Charade is because it's really quick off the mark, but doesn't have much past 100, so the closer ratio of the 1.6 may suit be me more. But TBH I've never driven either so I'm hoping to drive one of the 2K cup guys' cars to get a wee flavour.

Haha yes that's my 2K Cup number. I saw you pass me yesterday night. Your 106 looked/ sounded sweet!

Detomasos are really fun cars to drive. If you can find an unmolested one, I would check it out for sure.

Are you looking for a 205 for the 2kCup instead of your Charade?  Or as well as..?     :o

I drive the white Citroen BX - the comedy value is high!

A friend of mine had some kind of Charade when I was a teenager - it was a 3 cylinder diesel.  Very occasionally it needed fuel.  But she rescued me several times when Larry the Land Rover broke down.  ::)
