Its a 2.0 megane 16v doing 0-60 in 6.5 secs. Mine seems similar as best I could time it whilst holding my cell phone..... :P

I think renault are very conservative in their specs.

yeah nah - don't think that video is a standard f7r and standard is how we roll in 2kcup.

Lets just say that the top 5 cars did not comply to the rules. But it is in the past and the new Tech committee will help a lot to stamping out the technical breaches that have gone unpunished for the last season.

You should be on the pace of a 306 gti but not much more. I would guess 1:24/5's at Hampton downs with a good driver. With an ace driver, I have no idea.

I am as fast in my Honda as I am in my Clio 172 which has exhaust, remap, bilstien B14's, whiteline ARB and the same tyres.
The Hondas are just fast out of the box. 1:22's. The Levins are not far behind. It will certainly be interesting to see the 205's in legal config. I hope they will still be in the 1:23's

Torque is awesome out of the corners, but top end counts up that hill especially. Also the jappers have LSD's as standard options. Boy does that help in the wet.

Well I guess the LSD is one of the big advantages of the Hondas. It seems that it would be more than fair for all cars to be allowed to run a slippery diff, it would level out the playing field a bit. Otherwise its just going to be a poor man's honda cup. And whats the fun in that?

The 205s at the front do benefit from being lightweight, and also from having pretty damn good drivers. But the preparation of those cars is what really sets them apart - they always say motorsport is a game of inches and tenths, and there isn't many parts of those cars that haven't been fully optimised. Full credit to the guys who prepared them - but many competitors are out there to buy into some cheap thrills without spending heaps of time and money (which, fundamentally, is the ethos of the class). If one was really worried about finishing near the front of the field, then I'd say this class isn't really the right fit. It's easier on the bodywork being further back as well!

No, I am not going to go down that road with this car. I will get it in decent race trim without spending too much time on it. I am intrigued tho as to how competent this little car will be around the track. Hopefully will be fun when pushing it. I love my E36 328 around Hampton, very very forgiving and balanced. Its a fine thing.

LSD plays a bigger part in the wet - not so much in the dry. Not like we run plate diffs!

Maybe I'll buy some Bilstein nitrogen for my spheres!  No-one will ever find out...
