Hi Fast Frogs...

I would like to introduce myself.
I love CARS. But they have to be well designed and Go FAST.
I presently own 4 CARS.

1. Bright Red MADZA 6 - SP 2.3L – Six Speed Manual – Z edition with Turbo Suspension & Brakes ( Wife's Car )
2. Two Gun Metal Grey - Peugeot 406 Coupes, both Black Leather interior, Both 3.0L V6 – one Manual one Auto, one with STD Wheels the other 19inch wheels
The Auto I purchased 9 Years Ago, with 16,000 on the it now has 130,000 on the clock and still looks mint
The second car I have purchased only about 3 months ago.
It is Manual and had done 100,000km and is also in great condition. ( I have been looking for 7 Years to find a GOOD Manual 406, Finally found one )
3. I also have a Bright Red Fibreglass car that I built myself, 20 Years Ago. ( My Red Rocket )

So I know a bit about CARS but I do not work in the industry.
I can afford other ...say more expensive cars...But I really, Really LOVE my 406 Coupes.
I have previously owned a 2.0L 406 Manual and a 4 Door 3.0L 406 Auto that had done 240,000km.

So I Love my PUG's
Cheers

Yes you are Correct. the Face lift car was the last 6 month of production in the Pininfarina Factor.

Hi All

I am having a little issue with one of my coupes. The Manual One.
And I am wondering if a one of your members would maybe know someone to help me out.

The Catalytic Converter shat itself. And is rattling around in the housing.
And THE COMPUTER SAYS......NOOOO !!!

Then it puts me into half power, so I can get home.
( My Fix )
I stop the car wait 30 Seconds Start up, and sprint off before it figures out what has gone wrong.

This is obviously not a permanent Fix.....???

So I am not that keen on replacing the shitty expensive power robbing piece of shit.
Question:
1.   Do any of you know of anybody that can FLASH the existing computer – Change the manufactures program so it ignores the CAT.
2.   Greg Kent – who I have known for years, recommended a " Simon " – At Fast Frogs. Is he still a member and do any of you have his contact details.

I am keen to do some mods to my manual 406 Coupe, but not full out BOY RACER – TRACK type Mods. ( I have a car for that )

Generally, I was thinking –
1.   K&N Box Filter ( Trade me guys look a little dodge? May purchase direct from the USA )
2.   Performance Exhaust.  But not custom headers – 2 / 2 inch to a 2 ½ inch pipe single system.
Duel pipe systems look cool but can get a drone tone to them.
( May use 2 mm Mild Steel approx. $1,000 Dollars ) otherwise Remus back end and M/S or Stainless Front.
But S/S systems can sound Tinny due to the thin walled pipes.
3.   Flash Computer to take out the Cat
4.   May look at a new Chip? Recommendation anyone???
5.   I do have a contact that can put me a whole new "LINK" Computer into the car. But I would prefer not to spend Quite that much money.

Anyway I would appreciate some feedback, On the Contact and the suggested Mods, and maybe your suggested recommended Mods.

Cheers.

I have had a remap done my V6 406 by NZPT and I also asked to delete the pre-cat faults. Simply so I could remove all 4 cats and it worked wonders.
I also have done the exhaust on mine too, didn't increase the pipe diameter as thats not that restrictive but I got a straight through coby resonator and a triple flow rear muffler. BEST NOISE EVER! Its quiet and loud when you want it to be.
I might be able to sell you my K&N filter panel if you would like? Its barely used as shortly after I got it, I decided to get a BMC CDA

Hi Pug406

Thanks for the information, Greg Kent said that the computer could be re-mapped.
Yes I would be keen on you K&N Filter. If you are interested in Selling it.
I assume NZPT is
http://www.nzperformancetuning.co.nz/

Would you be able to give me a rough estimate what the cost for the remap?
Also did they re-chip the computer or just reprogram the existing computer?
Did you first put the Exhaust on and Air filter prior to seeing NZPT?
Also did they Dino the Car?

Thanks for you Help.

I didn't do any dyno figures before I modified the car, but I did after I modified it. I got a very healthy 184hp atw. The dyno guys said drivetrain loss is usually around 20% so that should be around 230hp at the flywheel.
Yup NZPT is that. I think they charge $1000 for a remap. You could get it cheaper if you ask though? Definitely talk to Hans and mention a guy with a Peugeot 406 V6 who got a remap done, maybe then prices would start looking sweeter. He might even be able to load the same map I have straight away (If it works that way).
All they do is plug in their special unit and laptop into your OBD2 port, and download your existing map, they send it off to someone who knows exactly what to do, then a couple days later you go back and then they reload your modified map.
I will PM you about filter :)

Thanks Cam

I have owned my first Coupe for 9 Years, and have been looking for 7 years for a GOOD manual.
Finally found one.
Unbelievably, I have two 406 coupes,
Same Colour, Same interior, Same motor. and both being the face lift model
I have done all the Mods that PUG406 has had done on his car, to my manual Coupe,
I am now going to alter the Air Box and make a Small Ram Air Flow Box.
I will put up a separate posting of the work with photos that I have had done on it.
I would like to thank you all for having a great web site, so we can all share in the knowledge.
Cheers
Anthony
P.S This is my little Red CAR that I built 20 Years Ago.
