Intro.
« on: July 03, 2016, 11:34:16 PM »
G'day FFs. After a long run of Peugeots and Citroens - 2x404s, 2x504s, 2x304s, a 505 and 3xCXs - I moved away to Saabs and other makes until the recent acquisition of a 306 S16. I like it and might even be persuaded by No1 son to give it a run on the track. If so, don't hesitate to wave as you lap me. Cheers. Jock

Welcome Jock.

I think most true car nuts have a thing for Saab's.

Enjoy the pug, have fun on the track.

Ah yes - Saab is the Swedish Citroën...

Have fun on the track with the 306 - great cars to have fun in. Are you just thinking track days at this point?

Hi Jock, how did you get on with your s16 - have you had a track day? I'm interested in getting into it myself. Cheers

Thanks for your inquiry. Yes, I've done a couple of track days and now involved in 2kcup. Lots of fun and recommend it but my experience is that buying the car is just the beginning. Ours is a 1994 S16 and some parts are expensive or no longer made. The result is we now have 3 parts cars plus a good Mi16 (we thought we might need the motor but didn't). So the Mi16 is now surplus and will be sold. Be good to get some money back. I'm not suggesting the Mi 16 as a 2kcup car by the way. There are 3 x 306's currently racing in 2kcup and a couple of 105s a 206 and a Citroen BX. As you might expect, all owned by people with impeccable taste and track manners; also very decent and helpful to a beginner. I managed 2 races this season and have the distinction of coming last in both; an achievement I will probably match next season. Cheers and good luck.

Ewww - a BX?! What kind of nutter would race one of those?!

😁

What's your Mi16 like?

Good to see you up and running and enjoying 2k cup. Yes some parts are expensive via NZ distributors or Ebay sites, but i think if you ask on Fastfrogs for the parts you require you may be surprised with the help or low cost brand new parts that are available. Keep in mind that FF are hoarders and are happy to help other FF's for the sake to see another french car on track or road

Well, like the rest of us in the Citroen/Peugeot corps, the chap who races the BX is a bit of an individual but hardly a nutter and a man of many parts. I'm sure you'd get on well with him Mungous - kindred spirits perhaps.
The Mi16 is not bad. Recond head by previous owner (through Bishops) and drives well. Black leather inside in good nick and no defects or problems I know of. It has too many wee dings to qualify as immaculate.

Encouraging words thanks Cam16v. Pity I wasn't more active on the FF site a bit earlier.

I would think they get on very well- i believe that the in the weekends, normally mild mannered mungous turns into BX 16v-driving, 2k cup entering, Hugh Parris. Something to do with getting wet with LHM, or feeding at night.

I find demon tweeks quite useful for 206 parts. Their shipping is pretty res too :) I assume they do 306 bits too...
