405 Mi16 - looking for engine and advice
« on: February 07, 2018, 07:15:31 PM »
Hello everyone,

My Mi16 has just had catastrophic failure while driving home at fairly sedate revs. By failure I mean a large crash-clatter and a hole in the sump you could put a fist through. Oil everywhere. Stopping traffic. Panic.

The car is really sound and I'd like to find a new engine. Does anyone have one sitting in their shed they'd like to sell?

The car is 1995 and is an iron block. I've got a 1989 alloy block car for parts. Does anyone know what's required to transplant these engines? I'm less keen on this idea as the condition of this engine is sketchy.

Any advice would really be appreciated. I'm in Christchurch. I'm new to the Mi16 but have fallen in love with the power and handling - I'd hate to have to get a real car.

Thanks,

Silas

You can do it but it’s a mission. Look for an iron block motor, fit that and sell alloy blocked mi-16. There is a guy in South Island who wants a alloy motor for his bx. Pm http://www.fastfrogs.co.nz/index.php?action=profile;u=2091 this guy. He has all the iron block stuff

I know a guy looking for an alloy block engine who may be able to do a swap for an iron block one. South Island too.

Chchpug only made 3 posts and was last active in April, so I'd suggest contact via email might be the only way to get him.
There are a few alloy block mi16 engines floating about on here - maybe make a new wanted post?
