Howdy comrades ,

gotta say that I'm delighted to have stumbled upon this site and to now be in the company of such connoisseurs of French automotive engineering of the brisk persuasion  .

happiness is a hott hatch and a sinuous country back road , of which we are so blessed with here in Godzone and over which my Renaultsport Megane F1 Team R26 consumes at a great rate of knots .

A recent topgear mag article really summed it up for me with the heading ' The greatest car you've never heard of ' . The article goes on to wax lyrical about the R26 and compare it with the new RS250 concluding , as I do ,that while the latter pushes all the right buttons it is the barking mad /enfant terrible /hooligan attitude of the R26 which shines brighter .

As of writing , no amount of yellow interior highlights in the Trophee version can seduce me to overlook its scary Honda Civic-ish nose or its quasi distended Mazda 3 tail , AND what were they quaffing when they configured the centre console ! looks like an art deco mish mash by a design committee ......but now I'm starting to rave - cos deep down I really wanna blue one with a Gordini stripe !

I look forward to the association with this online community and the opportunity of modest contributions...........eg for a fab driving + scenic experince I highly recommend the King Country / Waitomo back road between Awakino and Te Anga = 73 km of sealed bliss + gravel side road detours to coastal gems [ hot hatch heaven ]

Can I just ask, whats with the backwards tomcat?
did you have a rover at some point?

BeBop

trainspotter - lol

yes GUILTY as charged , I was indeed once the owner of a wicked little 1993 Rover Tomcat 220 Turbo [ red - like a fire engine , 197 bhp , 0-100 6.2 secs ]  . The number plate was simply to let slower punters know what was looming up fast behind them when they looked in their rear view mirror [ aside from the dyslexic C ] and besides simply having a TOMCAT plate was far too pedestrian .

So the plate has kinda stuck with me ever since....... particularly now that I'm fast becoming a grumpy old bastard who never tires of passing yet another open road plodder !

and talking of tyres [sic] I'm loving them Michelin Pilot Sport 3 rubber ! phenomenal grip no matter what the road conditions - and lets face it who gives a flying fig about their 'green' credentials ? they sure bring out the 'hoooo' in yaaaahhhhoooooo

tally ho

Amen, I have Pilot 3s on my car now. Fucking lovely. really good feel.
You could search all your life for who you are, or you could accept the simple truth:You are what you drive - said by Porsche, but I'd rather be a Renaultsport...

good onya maate ,

along with the nitrogen inflation they are a gas gas gas . Not only in terms of additional benefits of tyre life and grip etc but the stability of the tyre pressure is brill .

Pix attached of the resultant cocktail of ; Michelin , Brembo and alloys = 18 inches of road pilot zippppppp
