Ever since i have had an interest in cars it has been for the japanese market, starting out with a 1988 CRX SI, 1996 WRX, 1992 R32 GTST and my no expense spared 1996 R33 Coupe (324rwkw), http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=820739460

However, i have recently purchased a 1988 Series 1 Peugeot 205 GTI 1.6 manual hatch, standard at this stage.... :P, but i think i am catching the hot hatch bug as experienced in the 80's when these came out.

How many members here have these little weapons? any recommended areas to spend money on them? or not?

Cheers.

Im in need of a couple of parts to help tidy up the PUG, i need a glovebox panel (part that you open) the red trim insert for behind the drivers door, a drivers side spotlight, and the original boot carpet.

I have just ordered two front stabilizer drop link arms for sway bar as the current ones are tired. i will probably end up going over most bushes throughout the car eventually.

;D ;D ;D

Nice car!

NZ-new and non-sunroof is the best spec.

Spend money on putting petrol in the tank and tyres and then hoon around the countryside.

Welcome to FF mate, nice 205 you have there :)
I think theres an uncountable amount of 205's on here, haha.

A well suggetsed upgrade to do on these is to put an Mi16 motor in it (1.9L 16 valve) (inb4 putanmiinit) but in my personal opinion, just leave it factory as there aren't many 1.6's around and the rare factor to it might give you a higher resell price if you decide to sell it.

If i owned it, I'd be converting to later model 205 (or 309) driveshafts, hubs, brakes, disc rear, and 15" rims.

hmmm, its one of those things if i start i wont stop, (hence the skyline cough cough) ive seen what the PUG1OFF company does and it looks like theres endless potential and fun to have with them. ive also seen http://www.ebay.com/itm/Peugeot-1-6-1-9-205GTI-XU5J-Bike-Carb-Conversion-Kit-ZX6R-37mm-/231416697888?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35e1829420
interesting i thought, have read that the carb conversion to twin 45 webbers can add 15bhp, which seemed weird because fuel injection was a big thing for efficiency and performance gains. is there many parts floating around in new zealand? ive just order drop link arms for front from uk but im anxious to get in to it now. good fun little car.

Rubbish no-name made in China bits off eBay can be a false economy though.

Yeah i will definatley do my research before ordering anything. Is there any well known peugeot wreckers around the auckland area? quite keen to just tweak the 1.6 to begin with and get the suspension and brakes sorted so i have it sticking to the road like Sh*t to a blanket  :o
