Hi Guys,

Looking at getting into the French car scene, thought this would be a pretty good place to meet like minded people.

My first car was a Renault 5 which I drove for 6 years, Loved it, sooo much character. I'd own another in a heartbeat. Since then got into the Vw scene. I've owned a mk2 Golf gti 16v, mk2 Golf gti 8v, Mk1 caddy pickup and currently have a Mk1 golf gti project in storage over in Nz.

Currently in the U.K. But moving back to wellington,NZ in October looking at finding a Peugeot 205 gti to run as a daily while I work on the golf. Are there any regular events in the area?

Just a couple of pics of the old golf and caddy.

Thanks
Josh

Hi Josh, welcome.
The 5 and 205 are fine examples of 80's French engineering. Don't see many 5's around any more, but definitely a few 205's as daily drivers.
Only a few of us in Welly these days, but will try to organise a few get-togethers when it gets a bit warmer and would be great to have you along. Leave the golf at home though please  :P

I was on the search for a 5 originally but they seem to be sort after and as you say not many left. Many renault 5 gt turbos make it to New Zealand?

I know of a few r5 turbos down south. I'm in Wgtn, got a supercinq as a runabout. 1.4L + carburettor = living the dream. Same engine as my previous r11.
