Title: Hi There, Newbie Here cool site :~) Question Pls?
Post by: Girlwithpug on February 16, 2011, 08:38:18 PM
Hi My Name is Brezze like the wind but spelt different .
So far I have meet a couple of pug owners and they have been awesome since I bought the car. Sadly the AA lemon check didnt pick on all the faults and I have replaced a lot of parts since. Running sweet now with a new clutch and new cable , engine mount , some rear brakes and a spring and shock oh and some new tyres.
Sorry dont have a pic yet got a 1991 205 Gt pug its a rough matt black paint job with the red coming through from underneath and not to forget the chalk flames on the side,(makes it go faster) Teehehe . Its my first car I have owned and mum didnt buy it haha.
This is a bit embarrassing, I'm going for my restricted need to know what are all the symbols are on the dash mean please? One of the lights lights up its right next to the oil can in between the speed odometer and the oil can symbol. Its round with a circle in the middle and a broken circle around the out side ? What does this mean please ? Also the light on the other side please?
Thank You in advance.
Love my pug

If the pads are sweet but the light keeps coming on, just unplug the wires.

In your photobucket album, move your mouse over the thumbnail images and underneath it'll say Share/Copy... Underneath that there's 2 little boxes, one called HTML and the other IMG, just right click on the IMG link and it'll say "copied" then come back to here, right click and paste :)

Get some widened steels for it. Drop the back a couple of teeth on the tortions and get some dropped springs for the front. Will be sinister

Cheers Goat , Um we have 3 to 4 people in it the tyres rub on the guards at the back of it. It had some toyos on it before and they were a lower profile and didn't rub.
I am looking for a left hand front shock for it at the mo.

Yeah Cam I reckon it would take to much to turn it Red. LOL *Buys 3 bottles of Thinners* haha

Haha. All good, we have out own, convoluted lingo on here... haha

Steel wheels (the ones that use hubcaps) on a 205gr are narrower than the alloys that you have on yours at the moment. So getting some of them widened to the same width of the alloy, and then running a narrow tyre allows it to sit lower without the tyres rubbing on the guards. Like so:

Sexyberlingo may enjoy that pic

The part about teeth is to do with lowering the back. Peugeots dont have springs in the back. they have a rod that goes from one side to the other. This sits into the things the wheels attatch to via a spline. If you take this rod out and turn it and put it back into its splines a couple of teeth out, it lowers the back of the car. Like so:

And also, it jsut realised this is actually a gt not a gti. So i have some front struts for one of these in stock which you can have. Were just going to go to the scrappy anyway. Don't know how i'd get it to auckland though.

Can give to someone at fast camp to take back to auckland. Which will be towards end of march. If thats not too late

Wow Im quite amazed with this little French car how many cool things it has . Like the adjustable headlights . Oh and how the bonnet stays up with out getting the hook thing out . Those rear rods that adjust like that sound like another cool intervention.
But was a bit confused when I broke the clutch cable had saw it had a plastic end. So I got sterlings in otahuhu to put a metal end on it instead. What a bitch of a job with no stuff all tools to get it on. Mums boyfriend had to take the petal off to get it on in the end. Works well now shouldn't break that bugger .
I so can wait for that strut to come up it would be really appreciated Thank you, can I sent you a local booze voucher for saying thanks . Can meet them out at famp.

Where can you get those guards done like that ? Looks Rad . Is it expensive to do ?

baseball bat actually works sweet. get enough weight in back so it's almsot rubbing
whack baseball bat in
push car forward. baseball bat rolls along tyre/guard and pushes the lip up. perfect!

I work in parts and a GC customer in kapiti wanted some parts in the weekend, and I was passing through anyway. 8 brake drums and 4 sets of linings etc etc. so was probabyl closer to 500 odd kgs. was hard on the bumpstops at the rear and fairly slammed at the front, which, coupled with way too wide tyres, caused epic guard rub. baseball bat sorted that out.
was super slow on the haywards hill, though. hah

Man of many talents . I had a whole different thinking with the base ball bat . Your sounds so much more on to it. I will run this past mum boyfriend he a engineer fitter welder . He has help me heaps with this car. Also hassling me to get rid of it and buy something with cheaper parts etc . Im liking my first car. Wow I bet the guard rub was wicked to say the least .

The car is ligit warrant and rego it's just me the driver at the mo that is not. Nearly booked in for my restricted . I'm a little worried that they may go over it with a fine tooth comb and not like the look of the pug to use for my restricted .

Fuck 'em! As long as it's got a wof/reg and is still in a wof-able state just roll in that ;D
The auto in my first trump turned to cheese the day before I was sitting my restricted, so I borrowed a mates EB 'coon which was haggard as, and had a paintjob like this:

Except that golf left the factory like that, and the 'coon was pretty much matte, and had most panels kicked in...

Hahaha Thanks that made me smile . Where did you go for your restricted ??
I went over it today and the only thing not working is one of the reverse lights . There are 2 of them. Checked and replaced the bulb and it still doesn't work. GGrrr . My Aunty said I can use her Rava as it a manual . I took her for a drive and Im so used to the Pug I nearly gave my aunt whiplash applying the breaks . Oh and it so easy to turn, used to no power steering.

I did my full licence in a 2stroke micro car.
It dropped a cylinder mid test. Was only running on two. Couldnt go above 60kph. The instructer was in hysterics the whole time. She told me to just head straight back to the AA place because she was laughing too much. Was awesome/thought i had failed.

also, you're not required to have reverse lights for a wof. I don't think the instructor checked mine.
I rolled a diesel hilux, and wore overalls, for my full test.
was sweet.

They fully explain what hazard spotting they want you to do so that's all good. e.g anything that has the potential to move and dips in the road that result in blind spots etc.

Not trying to scare you or nuffink but...

When my girlfriend sat her restricted in the 205 GTi (which did look pretty haggered but was WoF'd/reg'd) the dude testing her went over it with a fine toothed comb to the point he even checked the tyre pressures! He reckoned the pressures were too low so she couldn't sit the test! Failed without even starting the engine...

Now personally I think that guy was simply being a complete cock cos he didn't want to go out on a driving test at 8am, would rather be back inside finishing his coffee, so you'd be pretty unlucky to have a repeat of that incident. She rebooked, went back a week later and got a totally different person who was nice and she passed with no problems at all.

Moral of the story: If your car looks dodgy make sure it's all up to snuff (horn, indicators etc) and make sure you've got air in the tyres so if you get a fuck-nut for a tester they at least can't get you on that technicality!

like I said not trying to freak you out though ;D Generally if you can drive you should be fine - just look at some of the terrible drivers out there who got their licenses! ;)

When I went for my full, checked my brake light at home, drove 2 mins down the road to the test, dude checked my brake light and one had blown :-\ >:(

Needless to say I had a pack of like 4 spare bulbs in the glove box next time I went for my test :D
Title: Re: Hi There, Newbie Here cool site :~) Question Pls?
Post by: llama on February 25, 2011, 03:33:14 PM
Yeah tbh the guy was just looking for a reason to not have to go out I think. Jin actually said later she was glad cos with an attitude like that he probably would have failed her anyway on principle...

She did complain but they said something about safety being the priority and if the person testing thought there was a safety issue (despite having a WoF less than a month old) then they could call off the test.

I had risky for 5 years only sat my full cos I wanted to be able to drive in uk.
Just relax don't get too worked up about your test, check your car over before hand and just roll down there and play it
cool. I pissed myself both times cammmy's mate crashed my cars, was epically funny and I'm pretty
laxed so I wasn't at all bothered in fact I think I encouraged him the first time haha told him to cut loose and two corners later he'd
scratched my wing mirror on a lamp post after mounting curb, funny as fuck.

Also when I said beard it was actually a goatee when I did my test
but I shaved down the middle and used to gel it (looked like two horns on my chin)
but on my license photo its un gelled as was after work so it just looks like two tufts.
I think I did have it gelled in my passport photo though haha.
I have a bit of of beard now though, generally kids find it easier to approach me outside school
when I have a beard as they get lost in epic beardedness and don't notice that

Hahaha, I did that first time I drove my wifes old legacy, it was auto and coming up to an intersection I planted my foot on the 'clutch' or, in this case, brakes :-\
Hahaha Hoping you didnt have your wife in the car at the time? Poor head . I havn't driven a Auto yet Ma was really particular that I learn in a manual without all the bells and whistles . She said when you can drive in one of those you will be able to drive in anything . So I will keep your post in mind when I drive a auto . Thanks :) ;D :D :)

It's quite funny how going for the clutch becomes just an automatic thing...

Who needs an auto when you can train your body to be auto :D

I served my time with the driving instructor once I passed my learners.
Many lessons and plenty of time practising 3 point turns and all the stuff they test you on.
Was confident when I went for my practical test, buckled in, started the car, checked mirrors, indicated, tried to pull out with the car still in neutral...

I failed my restricted first time. Was shitting myself the whole time. Best advice I can give is get an instructor for cuple of weeks before and get them to take u around the track. Presume you will go quay street? If u do the test is up and around parnelle so heaps of traffic and shit. Atleast if u know the roads u will be on it makes it easier

Seriously, you'll be sweet! Most of them are really nice and not out to fail you. I passed mine first time (admittedly about 18 years ago!!) in a massive 505 wagon. My girl friend only failed her first time cos that guy was a dick, she failed without even starting the car! When she went back and had someone else she passed with no problems (and she said she stalled it a few times even when doing the three point turn, no power steering and she is really small...).

If you are already making it over the bridge in rush hour every day then you'll pass no problem - just remember to keep checking your mirrors cos they watch out for that ;)

Got my Restricted and got it in the 205 , the Guy who tested me said not to many girl of late do it in a manual and impressed that it had no power steering. He did make me parallel park in between a Audi and a Porshe in Parnel on a Hill. Near shat myself . Only comment he made was to edge out at intersection not just see the gap and go hard . Also gave me a lesson on Parallel parking as I wasn't that close to the kerb.

Nah just force of habit really lulz, clocked up like $14k worth of fines when I was a lad driving on my learners, in un warranted and un registered cars, sometimes cars with the wrong number plates etc, just general stupid sh*t like that :D :-\ Car was known so I would literally pass a cop and see him do a full 180 and come after me, every time... This was down in Lower Hutt tho.

I would look back and think - Fu*k that, but, considering I got $12.5k wiped cos I 'couldn't afford to pay it over 5 years and live' (thanks part time job and $160 p/wk payslips) haha - the only condition of getting $12.5k in fines wiped you may ask?

Get a Restricted licence, and a current WOF and Registration :D

Fkn joke if you ask me haha, I should have been made to pay after years of blatently ignoring our road rules, but, cos of the system, I didnt - Now I ask you, how many other people does this happen to? Lots, and lots....
Title: Re: Hi There, Newbie Here cool site :~) Question Pls?
Post by: Girlwithpug on March 08, 2011, 12:24:51 PM
Thats Friggan Awesome I think. 14 grand is a shit load to pay and if it was the old system you would of had your full and not get all those fines .
I used to drive without my L plates as I felt people would use them as a target for being dick heads to me . Like cut in front of me then slam their brakes on shit like that.
Hell Im going to write to try and get off the $100.00 buck fine I got a couple of weeks ago driving whistled on learners without a supervisor . She was a nice cop and all, I think cause I was driving my sis who is very disabled she had some empathy and understanding. I will photocopy my Restricted and send it with the copy of my ticket . Worth ago. The old lady happy to pay as she said I was doing her a favour by dropping my sis off for her, and she knowing I was on my learners .

law's pretty black and white though. should probably just shell out for the ticket bud.
also, on your restricted you may be able to get a special circumstances thing put on it for hooning round with your sis. best to cover all bases etc eh?

Yeah when I was on my restricted I could drive my little sisters to school or music lessons without a supervisor - can't remember how that worked though but it definitely used to be doable so probably still is. I think my mum may have sorted it for me, it's too long ago now for me to remember hah! :)

Yeah may have to suck that one up .
There is a thing on that restricted copy and pasted below

What are the conditions for a restricted car licence?

    * You must always have your restricted licence with you when you're driving.
    * You can drive on your own, but not between 10pm and 5am. Between these times you must have a supervisor in the front passenger seat who holds a full New Zealand car licence, and has held it for at least two years.
    * If you sat the test in an automatic vehicle, your licence will say that you can only drive automatic vehicles.
    * You must not carry passengers unless you have a supervisor with you. The only passengers you can carry without a supervisor are:
o your spouse or person you live with as if you were married, or with whom you are joined in civil union
o children who live with you and are under the care of you or your spouse (you or your spouse are their parent or guardian)
o relatives who live with you and who are on a social security benefit (domestic purposes, widow's, invalid's, unemployment or sickness)
o someone you look after as their primary caregiver.

I used to drive with Cammmy on my risky and had A note in glove box from my mum
giving her permission for me doing so. I was (and still am) his bro who lived with him
and had permission from our caregiver so that was good enough for me don't think I ever had to produce the note though
as they seemed to be alot easier 5+ years ago so don't know how they'd react these days.

Hahaha Too Funny. I probably was, lols as I was feeling bummed as I was taking the distance that I run/ Walk each day and was thinking around at that point "That not many Ks" It worked out to be 12ks and 600 meters including return trip. So felt better after that . Round the bays on Sunday. Do you work around the waterfront? What you driving? Funny my mum was driving it to yesterday and she had a guy on a bike asked her, and the peugeot 309 in front of her where to buy these cars and are they easy to get parts. She said fastfrogs nz . lols

Damn, that thing is SICK. I'm betting people keep their distance from you, they don't want to mess with the sinister 205 from hell. Its even better how you drive it. I envy your style :)

*Blushes lols * Just need sum matching matt black spray cans for now Teehehe Got 4 here and none of them match .
Havnt done anything much to it since getting it .
The comments on what to do with it on first page could be the go?
It was 5 months of mavs savings . Worth it .
Wants a GTI this good for a start :)

If you know someone who has a an air compressor and spray gun, you could go down to this guy I know in Onehunga, he can give you good (Matching) paint at an industrial price.
Selling it and getting a 205GTi would be wicked, but you wouldnt have the matte blackness.
Would love to take one for a test drive (possibly on a track :P)
