Introductions / Re: New member

Thanks for that.  Any idea of the difference in dynamics between a Clio and a Megane?  Obviously the Megane is larger, but that does make it a bit more user friendly when chucking gear/people, etc in the back.

Early Clio RSs (171/172) come up pretty regularly. Usually around the $4-7k mark. Or less for a crappy one. There's two on TradeMe right now. Rust doesn't seem to be a big issue for them here in NZ.

Welcome aboard the SS Fastfrog!

It's been a bit quiet around here for a while but there's still plenty of interesting conversations and IP swapping going on.  What have you got to drive at the moment?  Anything remotely interesting?

Hi All,

This is my first post and I just wanted to introduce myself.  Unfortunately I don't have an interesting collect of cars sitting in the garage, unlike most of you, but that is in part why I have joined the forum.  I have been a fan of the Renault RS models for a long time and would like to have one of my own, but they seem to be a bit of a rarity in NZ (or at least are cherished by their owners and not regularly sold).  There are obviously a lot available in the UK, but I am put off by the stories of rust and maintenance issues, particularly in the older cars, which I have a soft spot for.

Anyway, I'm keen to learn what I can and welcome any buying tips that you might have.

Cheers.

Introductions / 106 gti for sale
Last post by EuroMot - June 07, 2020, 07:01:41 PM
Hi all, I'm new to this so please pardon me if I mess up with this. I love my 106s and own a 96 xsi. Or though it's a fabulous car I would love to have 106 gti. So after numerous months of looking for one (even contemplating on importing one from Japan) I found 1 in Dunedin advertised on a new and unknown website called "Autoinsider". I have tried to contact the seller  many times with no response. The listing ended yesterday and strangely I'm unable to excess the website now :-\. Does anyone know of the person who is trying to sell that 106 gti? Rego on the vehicle is  WT808.

Introductions / Newbie and Car for sale
Last post by Tanaks14 - February 23, 2020, 03:30:33 PM
Hey Guys,

My name is Ian, came all the way to New Zealand and stubbled upon apparently a well known car down there to the fast frogs community. It is a Citroen 1995 AX gt with a 1.6L swap. The boys at bishops sorted me and the car out and she was a treat to drive. Sadly she is up for sale now. Not the best of luck on trademe so here I am. I really want to offer it up to you fine people so someone can finish the project Ive started. Unfortunately I can't post in the for sale section yet so if this is in the wrong spot let know and ill try to move it.

So here is the car and the chat:

Solid runner, literally needs paint and a wheel arch over fender (currently have replacement bonnet, boot and side skirt), driver seat stitching could use a refresh. Minor surface rust and cracked bumper as per photos.

Passed WOF and 3 Month Rego.

Here is what has been done mechanically:

Engine is now the PSA TU5 (1.6L).
Rebuilt shift linkage, very tight and short throws, replaced all bushings.
Rebuilt alternator.
New front sway bar bushings.
All new rubber all around.
New battery.
New brakes all around.
New front wiper spray motor.
Straight pipe exhaust.
New light bulbs.
New air intake with pod filter.
Tail light has been fixed.

Mechanically this car is very sound. Doesn't burn any oil, doesn't grind any gears. Been serviced entirely at Bishops garage, they specialize in citroens and Peugeot. I have a massive stack of service records from me and the previous owner. This car hasn't let me down and is a joy to drive. This car never came with power steering, abs or air bags so it's super light and with the new engine putting out more power is real quick in the twisties and off the line.

Would be great as a project for someone who wants to see it stay alive or just as a fun daily run around. Looking for a quicker sale, so come see it before it's gone. If you need any more photos or questions I'm keen to answer and hope this car goes to a good home.

If you want any more pictures or these ones came out terrible or anything let me know!
