Hi All,
Have recently entered the dark side an acquired a fast(?) frog as a runabout while my project is off the road (Datsun 120y).
Its a 94' Peugeot 106 xsi. Drove it home (Wellington) form Palmy last night, what a hoot!
Note the authentic patina....

My car ownership history is somewhat strange and includes (but not limited to):
Vauxhall Chevette hatchback
3 triumph 2000's (including an estate)
Ford Cortina (mkII)
Hillman Hunter
Hillman Avenger
Datsun 120y Coupe (current)
I know a few of the guys on here (CaM, joe/goat/flange, Cammy) and recognize a few of you others from oldschool.co.nz where I frequent.
I will no doubt have some questions regarding parts and what not as time progresses, so thanks in advance!
Cheers
Welcome.
Tidy looking vehicle.
Cheers!
Considering the paint damage its actually in pretty good shape. Interior is in really good nik. Motor seems nice and strong and is good fun to throw around.
Its only meant to be a runabout but I can see myself getting a little bit carried away with it....
You should go all 'PUG406' on it http://www.fastfrogs.co.nz/index.php/topic,9841.0.html (http://www.fastfrogs.co.nz/index.php/topic,9841.0.html)
'Allo Beaverman! Hope the stead of the campylobacter skin & blister treats you well.
Ahoy! The surface aids is just a disguise....
Be careful, once you start, you will never stop.
haha yeh that's what I'm worried about....
Although I have enought other money pits to keep my spending at bay
MI conversion Beave!
do they even fit in these things? the engine bay is tiny!
Do a TU5JP4 + Turbo conversion instead. They go nuts.
I have no idea what that means, Im a peugeot newbie remember!
But realisticly, first on the list is to sort out a few niggles (couple of knocks in the suspension, and see if I can tighten up the gear shifter somewhat) and just drive it
A TU5JP4 is the 106 GTi engine.
You should get this for the shifter thing.

Ah right cheers for that. Yeh I have had a nosey around the fast stock page already, some nice looking bits of kit. I suspect the linkages are well worn as well so will need to replace most/all of them no doubt

I do believe that the current 1600cc "Prince" engine is basically an evolution of the TU series, so theoretically any of those THP 1.6 engines *could* fit...
HELLO
Hai
Oh herro!
Yup and the 200hp 6 speed manual is a very nice drive
200hp in a 106 would be fun...
But honestly just thrash the standard engine. Sloppy gear linkages suck!
So far this thing has been a treat! Have done 300 km since Saturday morning (moving house, various trips around the place) with the wee thing packed to the rafters! Such a hoot to hoon around in.
Gud to hear you're not an angry beaver :P
Should probably stop posting in here but I don't think its worth starting a project thread.....
Decided to splash out on a spray can paint job for the roof and bonnet
