Hey Guys

Just joined. I'm 18 and my first car is a 91' Mi16x4 which I'm sad to say was in a horrible state when I got it. It's getting better with alot of TLC but there is still alot to do.

Love euro cars, especially the 4bie's. Can't stand most of the boy racer crap littering our streets.

My pug is currently off the road as my 1 year old nephew lost my keys. Sorting the best option to get it up and running again now.

Anyone in Wellington who is a fan of pugs I'm happy to meet (once I can drive it again :-))

Look forward to chatting with you all

Cheers
Cam

Triumphs are wicked and mine definately is not as nice as your guys (although I got a REALLY good deal on it) although so far it has been FAR more reliable than my pug (only needed a wheel bearing adjusting for the WOF). The problem is at 18 I'm not really in the position to be running a French AND British car (whilst saving for a house). Thus I have decided that it may be best to pass the trumper on and put the cash into a badly needed paintjob for the pug.

So if you know anyone looking for a twin Stomberg monster in reasonably good nick, let me know

Car has been towed to the garage, cost exactly the same as a locksmith call out fee before they even start charging labour. Hopefully the mechanic will be able to get it sorted in a cost-effective manner.

I've got my pug back now. New ignition, new locks, new tie rods and various boots (for W.O.F) and she's running better than ever so keen for meet.

What was involved in lowering your Trumper? Thinking something similar would be cool on mine, Maybe some wheels too and a british racing green paint job with big white circles on the front doors with 74 in 'em.

It looks like it's been in a fender bender so I will try get the front fixed (It's not completely straight. Most people may not see it but it annoys me). Then I will get it painted and my stereo gear installed.

Eventually Once it's due a rebuild (hopefully no time soon :-) ) I would like to have that done and also have it tuned. Would like to get it to 200+ bhp eventually. Also would like to have the whole motor and any other rebuilt bits chryo treated before they are put back in.

Post by: CaM on February 25, 2009, 04:43:56 PM
mean bro

with tcs to get them that low you've got to be VERY careful when driving or you'll lose the gearbox crossmember. joe's has had some fairly epic scrapage so he's going to make up a modified one which will protrude downwards less. he's also retrofitting PI gear and fitting a worked 2.5 at some point. choice.

it's still driveable but you have to be VERY vigilant of obstacles. scrapes like a bastard on our driveway but then again so does my crown.... ashphalt on the roadside is looking worse for wear and we've only been in this place for like 3weeks hah. a mate of ours has one that's about 2 or 3" higher and it still looks so sweet. joe's not one to do things like lowering by halves though hah.  it looks so damn staunch though

lolz don't even bother chipping the ecu, it's a shithouse system.... rip it all out and go link/megasquirt/whatever.

if your interiors anything like mine it'll rattle like a rattley thing. speshly the factory front door location. prolly nothing that some huge screws/thread tape cant fix tho (hopefully)

From what I've read the power curve is still going up at the limiter so should just increasing it with a chip give a bit more power? (not that I'm planning on it).

Yeah don't want the epic scrapage but getting the TC lower would be pretty sweet.

The interior doesn't rattle heaps (bit of a rattle in the roof liner somewhere). There's too much wiring in there for me to feel comfortable replacing the speakers myself. I have uprated speaker wire and a wiring kit for the amp etc so all the old crap is coming out (I'm going for quality of sound over quantity). I guess if there are rattles they will come out to play when everything is in there :-)

200hp is a throttlebodies/squish/decked liners/megasquirt-haltech job. Am getting cams done with Peter Taylor at the moment, and he is gonna sort out the details for squish/decking im gonna get done by my engineer. Liners are the killer, if they dont take a hone and still fit the pistons, you can be in for a chunk of change to sort it out. but the  ones on my resto 16v were MINT, at 160000 miles, cos these XUJs are a work of art. i am aiming for 190-odd-HP for mine, with a haltech (peterTs recommendation, not mine), uprated oil cog and chain, squich, decking etc. And a full engine rebuild of course. we are talking a LOT of work, and a lot of money. Most estimate you wont have much change from $10k if a rebuilder does it, and i reckon theres at least $5k in parts/engineers costs alone-me and the old man will do the rest. Dont let it get you down tho, just letting you know what you are in for!!!!Get a good mechanic friend, good luck and DO IT! Ill race ya to see who gets theirs finished first!

Yeah, I'm not getting mine done until the insurance companies won't assasinate me for it. Will be a few years away. It's already had a rebuild so will get that done when it's due another.

I'm thinking supercharging for TORQUE!!!!!!!!!! could get the rego CHGD4B or something

Does the TC have leaf susp in the rear? Wikipedia said the 2000's have coils all round.

Where can you get lowering springs etc for a Triumph?

you've gotta go custom. even if you can find them off the shelf you'll only get like 50mm slam.
