So recently i got my grubby hands on an AX GT, now its not the worst car but being a VW man i cant but feel i'm cheating slightly on my beloved brand. Now my AX needs a little bit of love but nothing major and i'm in 2 minds to keep it or not also i cant seem to find any aftermarket parts?, Any help?, Cheers
oh mate, definitely keep it! i had one and it got crashed by a friend. I didn't really mind at the time and wasn't too phased about it, but I have missed it a lot since.
They are so good at motorkhanas, light, fast enough, drums on the rear (hand break turns), nimble and light steering.
best of all (if its a mk 1) they have wine bottle holders!! WINE BOTTLE HOLDERS!!!
Have you tried eBay.co.uk for parts? shipping can be killer sometimes though
what are you looking at doing to it? tu's can screeam forever and a day which is alot of fun.
Welcome.
Trying to tell a VW man what to do with a French car is like explaining what sex is like to an A sexual Unicorn.
You either get it, or you dont... and if it hasn't got you, it wont.
I'd love a bit of a fast road set up but I think RS has a point really, I'd love a 205 gti tho managed to buy one on ebay once but the guy pulled from auction with seconds to go!, So I think it'll be up for sale soon?
ebay nz?
AXGTs are pretty fun. If you don't enjoy hooning round in one you probably wont like a 205gti though IMO.
I may be wrong though.
What kind of VWs do you usually go for?
Pretty much anything VW but got a real thing for mk1's, Na ebay UK (i'm from the uk) it was a Miami blue 1.6, i lived in Wales before coming here and the roads where made for quick little hatches had some good fun ragging a mk2 gti about plus spares where easier to come by, where as i cant seem to find anything here for the AX so it'll need shipping from another country?, And i seem to have my work cut out with the AX because of things as simple as the 3 stud wheels, I did read ya can change the hubs for 106 ones?, Just more time and cash i guess?
ive (with a lot of help) done the full conversion from a 106 so changed to 4 stud and put the 106 xsi engine in. farken quick but alot of work

I looking at that post the other day thinking it was quite a cool little car but like ya said its alot of work, still cool tho! 8)
A friend of mine is now a vw / escort guy because he's banned from owning Peugeot's / French cars as they are too lively and fast.
Ha ha do the gendarmerie turn up and take you're car off you?
Sounds like wife issues

Took me a couple of days of hooning to realize
Pictures of project when it starts please :)

I found Repco stocked two different brands of head gasket for the XU9J4. Cheap too.

My BX16v has an XU9J4 - your AX has a TU3.
My point was that Repco, surprisingly, does carry some stock for weird French cars.
But go see Don Simon - he'll sort you out.
Ah I get you, thanks man I'll look in to it
