Title: New member, old car.
Post by: puglyf on November 01, 2016, 09:22:25 PM
Hi Guys

Last week I picked up a Pug 205 GTI off trademe, the previous owner told me this forum was the bees knees, so I thought I'd join up. I'm currently working/training as a mechanical engineer, and am a big fan of old boxy cars.

I got the car fairly cheep due to an engine knock, which is probably coming from the small end bearings. My plan is to rebuild this engine and tidy the car up, in-keeping with its original style. To be honest, my ambitions exceed my skill set, so I imagine I have a steep learning curve ahead of me.

Any pointers with finding engine parts etc would be greatly appreciated.

Photos are from the tm auction, all credit to the previous owner.

Welcome.

I have found these guys to be bloody awesome, parts are reasonably priced, especially at trade rates.

Cheeers guys! :) Euro marketing looks very promising indeed.

I would not call myself capable at this stage though haha.  :-\
