Title: CTI to CTi 16v
Post by: jcsh on December 04, 2012, 02:18:35 PM
Hi, I'd like very much to convert my Cti 1.6  to  a 16v variant.
I am going to need an Mi16 block to do it though - does anyone know if a std alloy 1.9 block can be utilised..?

Bought a whole Mi16 engine and loom only to dicsover on striping, that the block is ruined by mashing of main bearing and subsequent mashing of aluminium below that!
Soooo can I get away with grabbing a std 1.9 alloy block or should I buy the GTi6 engine I am also looking at,,,?
3) Can I use my Mi16 loom and ECU on a Gti6 engine..?

Don't know about the other xu9 alloy blocks compatibility... gti6 is a XU10 engine so don't know if it's even possible that mi16 stuff could be bodged up to fit. You'll want all the gti6 ecu, loom etc to go with it as it will be waaay easier. XU10 are iron block also- about 30kg heavier.
