New Members, please feel free to post some pictures of your car - the easiest way is to upload the pictures to
Photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com), using the account details
here (http://www.fastfrogs.co.nz/index.php/topic,238.0.html), then linking to them in your posts.
To put the pictures into a post, use the format:
[img]http://s236.photobucket.com/albums/ff280/fastfrogs/205-GTi.jpg[/img]
subsituting the bit in the middle for the location of the picture you wish to post.
To make the pages load faster and save bandwith, you can also make clickable thumbnails by using this code:
[url=http://s236.photobucket.com/albums/ff280/fastfrogs/205-GTi.jpg][img]http://s236.photobucket.com/albums/ff280/fastfrogs/th_205-GTi.jpg[/img][/url]
Note the
th_ before the original filename. This exact format only works for Photobucket, but some other image hosting services have a similar feature, but you'll have to work it out yourself.
If posting a large amount of thumbnails, it is easiest if they have consecutively numbered filenames and you use Excel to generate the code. If you can't figure it out, just ask a moderator to do it :)
Chur!

3 GTi6s or 3 Blaze Yellow GTi6s?
Welcome to the GTi6 club by the way (even if you're an imported interloper!) I've got a '99 Phase 2.5 in Cherry Red (which is probably the rarest colour of them all in NZ.... it's the only one!). I love it, although I HATE red cars.
thanks Esprit
3 gold/blaze yellow gti6s iv seen just around the newmarket area including mine
so much hate towards the japs :'(
i just looked up your cherry red they only made 500 and they all went to the UK. so you must of stolen yours from there :P
did you import it or did you buy it here?

Mine was NZ New, sold new here by Precision Automobiles, the Pug dealer on the North Shore.... one must have escaped down here :)
I was gonna respray mine in Yellow (not blaze), but since it's such a rarity, I'll be respraying it in factory Cherry. It's got some damage on the roof (it was vandalised before I bought it) so it makes sense to return it to factory freshness if I'm already having to repaint half the car.
It should happen sometime in Autumn once I've cleared the Exige out of the garage.
Here's mine:
Pic 3 is the winner! Mean!
HOLLY SHIT!!! pic 3 looks like so much fun HAHAHA!!
I don't know if I have posted these before. They're old as.

RS Clios are the mutt's nuts... well anything by renaultsport really... ;D
Just realised I don't have a post on this thread.
Hope to have better photos at some stage.
Definitely needs photos done:
1. Not in fading light at end of day.
2. After a good cut & polish/wax plus "restore" bumper blackness.

Well its alright to not like red cars , if its just a preference in colours. But 9 times out of 10 its for the stupidest reason " cos they fade mate" . Well i am enjoying my red car, gives me more of a reason to polish it every two weeks. ;)

Anyway, here is my 6, 97 GTI 6, Nile Blue, well looked after and goes like the clappers.... around 180hp, few bits and bobs done on her.
Cheers!

Haha, yes that was me on the way to work, I did see a mi16. And yes the 205 was Grey.
Hard not to cane these cars, strong engines and so much fun to drive. I previously had a XSI in Diablo Red. Sold it when I got a company car, but loved driving it. Always wanted more HP though.... got that with the 6!!
I got the 6 last year.
Previous owner had it mapped and put in a free flow exhaust (nice rumble to wake the neighbours) and lowered the rear etc, he reckoned 180, but I'm thinking maybe 170ish.... but even as standard they rock.
Thanks for the welcome.
*drools*
IVE SEEN THAT QUATTRO BEFORE!

after parked at mc d's for 20 mins!
Yeah I left Putaruru at 7am with no boot spoiler and when I got to the track I had a 4" ski-ramp of ice on the back!

Insanely well! The only thing that could improve it would be AWD - first and second are pointless if you give it a foot-full ;D
Once it's above say 30km/h, it has some crazy acceleration and unless you're on a very very rough, twisty piece of road you can easily hustle an Evo or STi...
Best economy I've had was 4.2l/100km, usually around 5.2 even when fangin it. Stage 1 chip in the pipeline for xmas, so should have about 170hp/450nm vs 130hp/320nm now.
I like them, I haven't pushed them hard yet but I have them on my 760 Volvo and they are good on that.
The pug came with Yokohama A-drives on the front and Michelin PE2 on the rear, the yok's were actually pretty good
but the PE2's were terrible which surprised me, they are supposed to be good.
I was also surprised that the ride with the 16's isn't really that much harder than with the standard 15's,
which is nice :)
Says "fondmetal" in the centre but other than that I have no clue, I didn't put 'em on...
Pretty standard at the moment, but will soon be installing sports seats (hopefully) and a few custom decals (once I make them)...
License plate is not a real one just one I made up myself...
My first Pug, added the stripes myself...

agree and Fast Frogs in Old English Gothic is definitely the way to go...
mate used to have a cap with "lowrider" in old english gothic. his gf once asked why does your hat say "cowrider"? :D ::)
No longer have the Cab, the roof got damaged when it hailed and the insurance company wrote it off.
The rallye stripes shouldn't be a problem.
I can do some fastfrogs decals, if someone has one I can copy.

What are the switches for? ???
ignition and battery. can start with no key but you need one for the steering lock
That is quite possibly the most awesome thing ever!!
Oh mai, and I just realised that you start it by pushing a buttong ??? :o WANT!!
Can someone do this mod in my car/s? :D
Yesh
I think that mod may have been enforced!
it makes it fun at night when you have people travelling to close and you flick one switch before you break for a corner and it turns the break lights and the radio off lol.

It's weird how, I'm guessing, cars from ages ago had start buttons that someone thought were a chore so they made integrated key start thingos, but now every goat's going back to separate start buttons with dumb keys that you just poke in a hole.

Sweet renaults!
Alpine goodness!!!
What is the going rate for one of those around these parts?
GTA = MESSY PANTS
also did you get that gt recently?? looks like nana turbo?
It sure does!
I have always wanted a GTA Alpine, even just a standard v6 will do me
Not sure what a nana turbo is.
Perhaps R5 being a nana car but with a turbo.
GTX has similar trim - slightly less body kit but the three door is more easily mistaken. 5 door no turbo!
Not sure what my GTA is worth in nz but it may be for sale soon....

Still finding my way around this site. But no. Not turbo and I had had this one for four/five years I think..
Think I deleted some photos so will try to put them back on. Will find some of the 205 GTI.
BLOODY HARD following the GTA Alpine!!!...but...after celebrating 1 year of 205 GTi ownership a week or so ago, thought it was time to post some pics of my pugs (a strange, scruffy little French orange thing has managed to find it's way into my garage in the meantime too!).
http://www.aussiefrogs.com/forum/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=1307 (http://www.aussiefrogs.com/forum/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=1307)
NZ New...1 lady owner...spent it's life tootling around North Shore and to Auckland Grammar most days (she was a teacher there), ultra tidy throughout, all bits present and accounted for, not a lot to do on it except maintain.
Though I think I hold the record for price paid in NZ for a 205 GTi in the last 18 months or so :-[...oh well! (Thinks price of ride at Luna Park...$8.00 for 3 minutes or so...mmm, yep, got my money's worth already!)
Things to do: little bit of clear coat peel across roof, not too bad...'1 lady owner' spec rim scuffing ;D...need refurb! Has had a light meeting (of a frontal nature) with inanimate object at some point, all underneath bits fine and straight and as they should be, all seals and gaps good...driver's side headlight had been replaced and grille replaced, blow over on bonnet not really a good match to front guards, needs to be resprayed (need to get that factory fresh 'orange peel' finish)......that's about it, usual front driver's seat bolster collapse and a little loose stitching.
Being an old school kinda guy, thought the rear end needed just a little touch of 'shiny', so added a stainless Remus exhaust tip (not too big), got from ebay Germany (EUR 8.00!), slightly squared-off profile...looks well '80's!
ABSOLUTELY love it, and drive it at every opportunity. My wife is a little less than impressed (uses the 'JESUS! handle' over passenger side door a lot!), but my 6 year old daughter loves it to bits and is very disappointed when we're taking the Honda Civic and not the Peugeot...because "Peugeot's are so cool Dad!".
Love the forum...nice, relaxed kinda vibe, and will have to try and make next fast camp for a catch up, drive and a few refreshing ales!...cheers, Mark.

Aah cool... I grew up in HN and still return a few times a year to drive the SS Te Mata Peak and SS Tukituki Rd. :)
Remember getting to the bottom of the peak one time in my TR7 and my front brakes were literally on fire.... as in I stopped, they were on fire and melted through the rubber in the brake lines.... had to drive home on the handbrake :)

Speaking of Te Mata peak... this is one of my fave shots of My car and dad's up the peak, Christmas day, I think back in 2005. God I miss my Elise... ironically dad's got one just like it now :)

And my old car lives back with its original owner, not far from there in Taradale :)
...wonderful machines!
Here is mine
Nearly one lady owner.
First owners (less than a year) raced it in Benson and Hedges - Graham and Tony Lawrence. Then my mother owned it from 1987 to 2000 when I took it over.
My mother used to eat clutches - at least two so when got it I put a kelvar one in as it was due again!! No probs since :).
The wheels are OK. ;D
And yes it has a sunroof (ah, shaddup!), some evidence of a small fire under the bonnet (eek!) a dodgy rubber seal on the glass on the hatch (poor repair job after a small ding), faded paint (mostly original) and otherwise pretty good with very tidy interior. Looks good after a good clean and a polish.
Put a whole new meaning to "drive it like it's your mothers!!"
Peter
Good stuff! That is a tidy rocket!
Nice tidy 205 pb
Yep...very nice, white's my favourite 205 GTi colour.
If there had of been one around without too many issues last August, I would've grabbed it.
I'm a little confused with my colour though, seems Graphite Grey is the most common metallic grey out there by a mile...thought mine was that, though every time i checked a Graphite Grey car out on the 'net (not the best colour matching source I know :)), it seemed darker than mine.
Did a little paint code research a while back and as far as I can find, 'MOTA' which is what's stamped on the panel above passenger headlight on mine is the code for Steel Grey...which was like only 2% of total 205 GTi production, but more weirdly, was only a 'last phase' colour with the green carpets and black interior.
Mine's an '89 (phase 1.5?), ordered early Nov.'89, first registered 3/1/1990...RED carpets and grey interior.
Was told it was a 'special order'??
Wow that's cool!
The story sounds good anyway!
Quote from: Jeffo on August 19, 2010, 11:30:35 PM
Wow that's cool!

Yeah...not sure about all that...might just be my eyes, though 'MOTA' is Steel Grey I think.
95% of seller's story (original owner's son), checks out with original paperwork/WOFs etc....said it was special order from France, and almost caused a marriage break up at the time, husband hated spending money on cars and said she had to organise all servicing/maintenance herself, which she apparently did up until just before I bought it (she was 69 years old by then). Son said it was time (for her) for 4 doors and auto for ferrying grandkids around, etc.
A couple of guys on 205gtidrivers have claimed same paint/year spec as mine...but vast majority say "no"...only later cars with green carpet/black trim.
Need a Graphite Grey 205 to park beside...not too many 'round these parts though!
I haven't even got a 205 yet, but if I could choose I would have it in either white or gunmetal grey. most red ones I've seen always look faded. I've also seen a black one around, does anyone know if that's one of the standard colours for the 205?
Yes it is, quite uncommon in NZ though
Also, on related matters, I saw a light blue 205 GTi today! (in Sydney)
Im so good i can make a car parked next to a sewage lake look good 8)

Nice. That's the car from Pierce Brothers trade ins? My brother is the salesman there.
Love me a GR's was eyeing that car up but then realized I needed that money to pay for a dyno tune on my car.. then released a Dyno tune costs more than an entire car.. then questioned the cost involved with a dyno tune.. then had a beer and moaned about the rain and the cost of life in 2014.

Haha yeah it is! Oh true, does he work Sundays? Had a good yarn to him if it was. He didn't know about fastfrogs though so maybe not? Can't remember his name now, was rather hungover. Yeah I was told it had a bit of intrest but people just trying to low ball it. Interior is mint, lil bit of rust on the roof but nothing a lil touch up won't fix. Have fallen in love with it already haha!
No cam belt cover on it though :S so gonna get my mate at Bishops to see if he has some spare parts around. Pretty sure it has a hole in the exhaust too which I will fix but for now am enjoying the rally-esqe sound it throws out!
I don't know if he works Sundays, he knows nothing about cars let alone French cars or fastfrogs.. so a perfect car salesman ;D
Good cars though, I sold my GR last year and have had butthurt about it ever since, was a great daily hoon car, made me smile every drive!
Congrats and welcome.
Cheers haha!
Yeah he seemed to only know a little bit about cars, but had a quality yarn as I am no pro myself.
Yeah I am enjoying every second in it, had a motorbike before this which was expensive on the fines haha so hopefully the lack of horsepower mixed with the low speed sensation will keep me in the good books haha.
Keen to get it some gti bumpers and lower it about 30mm on some new shocks. Prob some new rims too when I can afford it.
Thanks, looking forward to my new life with a frog :)

There's a guy local to me who had 3 of the series 1 11s, two usable and one broken for spares. He's since sold the 2 roadworthy ones but was advertising the auto box, exhaust system and doors off the spares one on Trademe for ages. At least the 106 is going, well, after we did a father and son bonding session as newbie mechanics replacing a blown head gasket, refitting a new timing belt, waterpump, plus a general spruce up under the hood. We didn't do a 'before' pic of the engine bay but there is an 'after'. Next will be her sad paintwork. So any help on the speedo unit would be greatly appreciated, then I'll 'book' her in after the 407.
Previous Pug history (loved them all); 309GTi and 405Mi16
Current; 407HDi, 308 Allure and the 106XRi ie one frog for everyone of the driving family.

What's up with the roof? Plastidip or a wrap?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Roof is plasti dipped. Paint had very bad oxidisation and was all but gone. Tried to wrap it which turned into a big fail. Plasti dip was 2nd option.
gti !! love this car, i am an old school man 8)
I am now a happy frog owner! Needs a bit of work but so much fun to drive.
Mint night for a fang in the valver, I remember now why frog hot hatches are so much fun.

Is that taken on Mt Cargill/Blueskin Road?! Great shot, and the car looks awesome!!
Back road between North East valley and Port Chalmers. Was a great road to learn how well the valver goes.
I absolutely love it!
Just tried the photo bucket thing, not like post a pick to facebook lol, this is our daily driver 97 306xsi, its a kiwi new one and in quite good shape apart from the clear coat issue on the roof lol.

love that colour aye, my one was the same! ;D
Happy to be back in a 205:-) had it for about 4 months now, sorted out a few little issues so far, still have a reasonable list of things to do. Nothing major though, loving the weekly drive to Rotorua for my biking fix, so much fun on the small windy back roads;-)
Choice one Neil. I work in Rotorua, here 6 days a week, but live in Whakamaru, about 60km a way. Great drive every day in a 205 GTI. If your ever in town during the week, or on a Saturday, call in and see me at work for a Coffee, I'm at 88a White Street, keen to check out your car, you don't see many (any) French cars down here.

This is half my drive, since March I may have seen 7 cars on the trip, its dead, the bit from the dam to SHI has some nice twisty scenic bits, also some great MTB trails around, mostly flat and easy, but scenic, you can take a ride from Mangakino to Whakamaru on a well formed track, it even has a suspension bridge. I am wanting to buy a bike at some stage, I only hire them at the moment.

Sweet. Will do:-) I live near matata so drive up manawahe road then past the lakes to Rotorua. Usually go on a Sunday but next time I go over on a Saturday I'll get in touch for sure. Not sure there's any other 205s in the Eastern bay of Plenty..
Spent a few weeks in whakamaru a couple of years ago, wife had a locum job in mangakino, i checked out the biking and the amazing bush you have in the area:-)
I miss my one... dad said he took it for a hoon the other day which is good. said he was scared to go past 4000rpm 8)

Here's my ax gt, before and after. Was off the road for 3 years, just needed new tyres and rear brakes rebuilt.

Thinking about lowering the front.
Had a good time at Taupo playday on Monday. Car ran brilliantly all day despite having rather tired brakes. Should probs get onto getting new ones soon...

Ain't no party like an RS party:
Another successful trackday with the 206 proving to be ever so reliable. Lapping consistently around 1:57/58 now with a new personal best of 1:56.46
Had a couple of spins, one i discovered the rumble strips are a bit slippy and i lost the rear, the other under braking off the back straight.
Yes i know the sticker is wonky... :-\
Being a tripod
Sideways entry off the back straight...
photos with da new wheelz
apologies for the crap quality, I have had troubles with file size etc
172 looks nice, has it always been been missing the front lip? Good excuse to get a carbon fiber one ;D Also what size are those wheels?

here's a pic on a sunny day. had this beauty for over 15 years now...
After a few(lots) hours of cleaning, poslishing, painting, replacing parts and breaking more in the process, it nears roadworthyness.....
Spent the day hanging around hot water beach etc. Forgot to take any photos until we got back to the bach. Was starting to rain as we made our way back so had to put the top up but was an awesome day to go topless!
Much wow, much showing off my ride:

Nice E46! Is that the one built by HellBM? Proper build that one!
you, myrush, are a well informed man!! Yes, HellBM were the builders of this 1-of-less-than-10-in-the-world e46 M3 Touring tribute. It's actually better now (aesthetically) than when it left HellBM's ownership, imho. Awesome car, but I actually prefer the drive and vibe of my Clio to the German thing.

And as long as we are Showing Off Our Rides.......the one that started all this French love affair.....had this one for 11 years now and still love it. Even if there is not really garage space for it any more!!
1994 205 GTI-c. The 'c' stands for Classic. Number 26/30 in NZ. The very last of the GTI's in NZ. Basically a marketing exercise by Peugeot to shift the very last of the model in NZ. Apparently they were $42k when new. Dearer than the top of the line Commodore at the time. Ouch.
Yeah Ive noticed it has a few nice add-ons since it left Rays hands
Thats a nice array of cars you have
none of the cars in my garage would come close, either in out-and-out speed or aural pleasure, as the v10 in your garage. Tasty!!
BUT......4 doors. Always a downer for me!
The v10 definitely please the ears :)
I was after a coupe and looked into the M6 V10, but its not great to look at, the design and shape doesn't do it for me
managed to write of my landy the other week, so had to replace it.. Thought i'd get a good family run around to take the kids to school. Some how managed to persuade rach that what we needed was another peugeot of the 3 door variety :) i know it's not a classic peugeot but i must admit i do like it. Although it's funny how much more fun my 85hp 205 xs is on the windy back roads ;)

Great idea for a family car. And even better for going for a hoon down the back road.
Yeah it sure is fun down the back roads to rotorua from our place :) Seems like a good one too (figures crossed), one owner, full service history and 122k on the clock. The mission now is trying to teach our 3 kids how not to trash the inside of car in 5 seconds flat...
Hi all,
the following pics are from our works teams 24 hours of LeMons 1987 Renault 21.
This was the bosses work car for a number of years before failing a wof about 10 years ago and getting parked under a tree.
In June 2107 we dragged it out, got it going, fitted the moustache and the aerodynamic roof foil and then drove the wheels off of it at Hampton Downs for 3 days in Sept 2017.
Since then it has done 2 open days at Pukekohe and 2 more endurance events at Hampton Downs including NZ's first 24 hour race.
It has near as dammit 150,000 miles on it and doesn't miss a beat!
At the last event it did a total of 565 laps of the national track at Hampton (1582 k's) with only brake pad wear the only concern.
It is booked again to do the straight 24 hour event in May 2019 and the 3 day event in September.
If you want to see more about the event, look up 24lemonNZ either in google or on facebook.
Thanks.

Nice one! It's weird how many Super 5s were that colour.
How neglected is it..?

its been sitting in a shed for 30 years with the head removed (had stripped sparkplug threads!) owner passed away so not sure if any other issues
the bores have some kind of grease/anti seize on them so hopefully find all the engine parts rebuild head and attempt to get it running/ reregister
some patches of surface rust/lower door rust
i quite like the brown (insides of doors still look good) but wife is talking about a different colour (it was her great uncles)

My dad and I are about finished a DS restoration, and have a few parts lying about. Maybe even a 2175cc engine (with head).
Whereabouts are you and the car?
Colour is critical to get right with a DS. I also quite like the brown, but I don't think a lot of people share that view!
In Raumati, Kapiti Coast
Sweet I'll sing out when I have a list of missing bits!
Quite like some of Toyota's modern metallic browns (had thought about paining bike it even)
And then a cream? Roof and wheels
I have all the paint codes for the correct colours for wheels, roof, etc somewhere. My research suggests most people hate it when people use non-OEM colours for those sorts of things. Body colours are a different matter - I've always wanted a silver one!
Start a project thread for the old thing! :)
just realised this thread hasnt been very active - but i'm trying to unlock secret areas of this forum by posting.
My favourite Cit - sure it had hydraulic leak (and some say it's ugly) but by far the best I've had.
Makes a reasonably good farm vehicle... ;)
Saved the best (of the worst) to last.
The most costly and the most disappointing car I've ever owned - stunning to look at but disappointment in the end. I was happy to see the back of it. This is the best feature of the car, incidently.
