Title: back with a pug
Post by: therealvw on April 16, 2008, 05:48:00 PM
HI, new to the forum.
I owned a litle 106 in the UK. Now in the UK.
Getting rd of my little civic.
I've picked up a '96 306 Xsi. In Red metallic.
Like it so far, although I am getting used to the odd pedal spacing!! LOL

Some knocking coming form under the car somewhere!
Will need to investigate!

welcome! good choice ditching the civic btw  :P

where's your knocking coming from? front end could mean a cv joint is bung, rear could mean a busted bearing somewhere in your beam

is it in the frnt? wht drivng conditions does it do it

over speed bumps = probly swaybar drop links

accelerating = probly cv

coming frm rear = probly beam

if it was a bearing its would make a constant whine/slight groan at speed

hope that helps ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

and im confused is you 106 in england or you?

Hi guys! thanks for the info!
LOL, I miss typed, I am in NZ now, the car is still in the UK.

KNocking sounds to be front, poss driver side. It definately is over slight bumps, not speed bumps though.
Will check out the things you said though.

Steering seems fine, and cornering the knocks don't change.
It is something 'deep' though not a light material knocking like trim.
It does sound like a loose something! Poss suspension strut!?
I need a good FINE day and time to check out things.

Good to be on the Forum though!

Pics will be posted.
Anyone got any info as to where I can get parts and spares like NICE rear lights and new bulbs that are brighter than the standard ones(front)

to start off with id just disconnect both of the drop links and go for a drive if it goes away youve found your problem  ;D. but its a bit harder to do that with the engine mount  :P
