now this is 4 everyone who has been procrastinating about doing a track day but never does! 8)

its basicly an open day where everyone takes anything and goes racing.

all you need is a helmet and a car and 90 bucks!

apparently they just group alike cars then send you out in those groups 4 15 mins ish and they just rotate the groups throughout the day.

im keen to do one in september so everyones got time to sort there shit out ;D

this idea came frm me and my mate who really want to get out onto puke before it all closes down would be a shame to have neva had a drive around it.

whts the general consensis? 5th or 26th would be beta cause there on saturdays but we would probly need to get in erlyer i rekn.

i rekn we should MEET AT DRURY BP AT 9AM so there is time for coffie and stagglers :D then we can convoy it to puke and have heps of time to sign up etc.

but all its doing is throwing air into your engine bay....where theres nowhere for it to go efficiently.... cars are designed there ways for a reason. but what do i know. i dont own a race car..........

i love how people instantly start talking dyno's lol, like they are the bee all and end all of any tuning.

guy i know just poured $50K into a C spec WRX for a customer of his, small dyno day and the rest spent at Ruapuna setting it all up PROPERLY in REAL WORLD conditions

id say it makes jack all differerance to aerodynamics so much so you would notice any differance either way as were to going 300millionty km/h. its just to get cooler air to the intake as your car runs blody hot on the track (go figure) so cooler air into the engine can help with combustion chamber temps etc. this is also y i looped the coolent lines and blocked the breather hoses that normaly go to the throttle body to help keep temps down not for performance (credit to baz for that one) and it wnt improve performance/hp rating on a dyno especialy as its the pistons pulling the air in not the atmosphere/wind pushing it in.

all much of a muchness but it takes 5 seconds to wip the headlamp ouyt so y not :)

Okay all I can do is relate this to Opels (sorry)
On the 2 door coupe Opel Calibra there is the 16v model and the 8v model....
The 8v model had (in 1989) a class leading CD of 0.29, the 16v model with the same body and trim had a CD of 0.31, the same as the 4 door Vectra.

Whats the difference it says?

The 16v model had a larger grill to supply a larger radiator, were talking an opening in the nose that went from the size of a mailbox slot to the size of a 2 slice toaster, this was enough to knock the CD for a six (still respectable but by no means spectacular, kinda like a Ford Mondeo).
So I can understand the viewpoint that removing a headlight will quite drastically affect the CD.... BUUUUT!

The 205 has the CD of a blunt brick.... a blunt one! and since a brick has a CD of 1.17, I think we can close the case on headlight mods affecting performance and well just have to take Heath's word that the mod made his car respond better

realistically, the aerodynamics affect on the pug would be eff-all at anything under a squillion miles per hour, these cars arent F1, and arent as affected by this as people might think. Im with heath on the cooling/induction benefits.
