It seems I was directed to this thread as the best possibility of getting some parts ferried from Wellington to Auckland,
So I will need to sweet talk someone from Welly to pick up said parts and take to Mangaweka, and also someone going down from Auckland to collect them and bring the precious to me.
Small secret, they aren't french in origin, but don't hold that against me, they are swedish  ;D
(ps parts are complete head with inlet manifold for my brick)

Cheers lads

Cairnmuir BOOKED for 17th and 18th September..

I'm keen to leave Welly straight after work (meet weighstation at 5.30ish) and motor on up. I reckon about two and a half hours to get there providing we have the necessary goodies ahead of time..

I've booked for between 5 and 8 but have to let her know numbers a few days before so she can have enough bacon and eggs for brekky....

Title: Re: Mangaweka Mish II
Post by: k-trips on September 03, 2010, 04:05:07 PM
I would guess about half an hour - you should bring your car to town and park it there for the day and leave straight from work....

Title: Re: Mangaweka Mish II
Post by: CaM on September 03, 2010, 04:09:10 PM
lofl drive to town you goat
or at least to petone and leave your mobile there
so many options.
how early do you leave for work? can get buses from like, j ville at quarter to 8 that get there well before 8.30
Title: Re: Mangaweka Mish II
Post by: cammmy on September 03, 2010, 04:09:50 PM
Just hate the traffic/having to find a place to park etc. It gives me anger issues like an auto with an un-baffled sump :D

I'll see about it though. Think I might know an okay place to park.
Title: Re: Mangaweka Mish II
Post by: CaM on September 03, 2010, 04:16:41 PM

Post by: cammmy on September 03, 2010, 04:18:47 PM
Na, it's a good enough cause, bus fare would probably cost the same as parking in welly anyhow :D. Will just leave super early and try beat the traffic.

Broseph.

Do you bus or train to Welly in the morning? Are you in welly for 8:30?

Could drive to yours in the morn, catch the *insert chosen method of public transport* with you, then get a ride back with KK?

What stuff are we going to need to take with us?

As far as I can tell we won't need much more than need booze and ice (and maybe some hash brownsa) to see us through till Saturday morning - can get dinner for friday night on the way..

I've arranged a couple of fondue sets for Saturday night dinner.

I'm pretty sure everyone is flexible and there are no special needs like vegetarians..

Meanage - that is us chocka then - sorry to anyone else keen to come along but all spots are filled (plus 1 extra  :-X)

We will have to draw lots for the person roughing it on the couch  :o

FYI - The rates they advertise is $40 each night per person up to a max of $300 for 8 people.. To make things easy everyone should just pay $40 each as there is 9 of us thats $360 per night - we can use the extra $120 ($60 x 2 nights) for buying ice/hashbrowns on Friday and food for Saturday night din dins for 9.. if there is any of the $120 left over I'll spend it on booze/cigars/condoms for all to partake in.

Any objections/alternatives to this plan are welcomed..

Are Lord, Kathi, Simon and Joel all coming down in a fast/slug together? What time do you reckon you'll get there? FYI - Its about an hour south of Ohakune..

Money plan sounds good.  $120 should cover all food for everyone for the weekend.  I like hash browns, sour dough bread, streaky bacon and free range eggs.  Kathi likes fancy icecream and cats.

Not sure if we're rolling together or not - what time do you reckon you fulla's will be rolling out of Orkland?  We'll be leaving from my work in Newmarket at 5:30ish I'm guessing.

As for arrival time, I'd say 10:30 - 11, depending on how long it takes to get out of Auckland and time spent eating tea at the Rainbow cafe...

I reckon park own cars at Dr. Diesel at about 5.45 and go in as few cars as possible to Mang-ger-wecker at about 6. 4-up in the slug/406 should be mean if Simon's keen.

To get you's Goats TURBO excited I have compiled a list of details along with some pics from last time...

You will need to bring your standard overnight bag, a torch, and some stuff to get filthy in case we hit the tunnels/read: its muddy as broe..

I'll bring a stereo, deck of cards, pen n paper, spare sleeping bag, pillow and a chilly bin maybe one or two more chilly bins would help too - anyone??

PS - the 9th and 10th person will need to rough it on couchs or in the kitchen sink (perhaps swap between Friday & Saturday) someone's can volunteer or we can decide with paper rock scissors..

Cammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmy
Sherie
KK
Joe
Alex
Joel
Simon
Geoff
Kathi
Ashley

a rough timeline if you can be bothered or want to plan something else..

Pre Friday - I'm getting a stock of FF Hasbrowns and the main ingredients for Saturday dinner sorted - will claim money back out of kitty once we have it..

Friday
- Wgtn Convoy from Mana weighstation & Auck Convoy from Dr Diesel - (meet at 5.45 and roll out by 6)
- Get to Mangaweka whenever we arrive with dinner en route - get your Friday night stocks sorted before getting there cos everything will be closed before you arrive
- Friday night funtimes with the Cammmy/Joe/Joel/Simon cuddle train..
- If everyone could please bring $80 cash for the kitty on Friday night so I can pay her first thing Saturday morning - chur

Saturday
- Breakfast supplied by Cairnmuir Cottage with extra FF hashbrowns
- Go for quick burn to Taihape to get stock for Saturday night (including extra dinner ingredients paid out of kitty) Perhaps lunch in Taihape.
- Rest of day activities to be decided - take a hoon down to the tunnels or a burn round the backroads or whatever people care for..
- Saturday evening fondue for dinner with whatever else people decide to get earlier in the day
- Saturday night standard FF funtimes involving whatever weapons of mass destruction we happen to find..

Sunday
- Breakfast again supplied by Cairnmuir with extra FF Hashbrowns
- Jump on our horses and tug on their manes so they turn into planes and we will depart..

BTW so you don't get lost Cairnmuir Cottage is not that easy to spot at nighttime - it only has a retardly small sign when you are coming from the North..
Just remember you need to drive up the driveway heaps.. the first house on the right (behind the fence) is the landladies and no need to stop there - just cruise on up about 400m past there and then to the right

Oh crumbs I forgot to put your name in Ash - so thats 10 people... haha

You do raise a valid point about people roughing it paying less.. never thought about that..

I guess now we have arranged the money - if the 9th and 10th person pay half price each - so thats $40 for both nights.

Is there a couple volunteers willing to rough it for half price?  I reckon thats all good - any objections??

I have changed the main post to reflect this...

Nah no need for slug sleep - pretty sure there is 2 lush couches for rough sleeps anyways..

Joe and Cammy pay $40 each for both nights on de couches (bring your sleep sacks and head devices plz)..
Everyone else has beds and is $80 for both nights... (sleeping paraphenalia supplied)

Sorry to the goats who expressed interest at last nights pube meet.. It just won't work to squeeze moar in..
I promise we will organise something lush with heapsa beds in the next couple months..

I lub you goats and want to get maggot/do lush adventures HEAPS so please be assured its not cos I'm not wanting to hang with you Jokers...

Looks dirty and cold and fun!

And I have been reliably informed that you got the hand off of my Volvo parts and bought them back to the big smoke for me!
Will have to arrange to pick them up some time soon  ;D

^I've heard of it and shot goats there.

Fucking epic road getting there though.

it's not that bad. my great aunt/uncle used to live up the back of whangamomona. we used to go up there sometimes. was a goat track compared to how it is now. dad used to cart a chainsaw, chians, ropes, shovel etc so we could get through 'basic' stuff. i remember having to wait for a bully to clear a slip one time hah

the sealed part of 'the forgotten highway' is rougher than the gravel nowadays. they jsut pushed the trees over and sealed over top. as they rot the road is getting lumpy hah
