Welcome.

Are you thinking of getting another Clio?

Welcome to NZ & FF; we're pretty relaxed here so get stuck in & enjoy!  8)
Where in the UK are you from?
On our roads you definitely need a little frenchie rather than a big heavy skyline....

I might know a guy.

I was looking at getting a 172 until I saw how ridiculous the prices are here for them compared to uk xD

Seen a couple 106 GTI's on trademe that look pretty nice though...

I'm from Tunbridge Wells in Kent :)

BigPete

It's funny. The odd 172 goes for ~$3k but you might have to wait years. There'll be none on Trademe for months and then four at the same time.

Don Simon

Welcome! When all the 172s show up let me know

In defence of NZ's high prices compared to the UK, I'd pay more to have a car that hasn't corroded into a single solid lump of iron oxide...

It is now safe to ask Pete how he feels about UK imports.

X2. A lot of the NZ new cars have been well looked after, you have to remember service and parts costs here are very expensive for the average Joe and first owners normally spend some good money.

I don't know why all kiwi's go on about rust and make it sound like it's such a big problem in the UK, cos it's really not, I've seen way more rust buckets here than I have back home.

BigPete

Yeah, even though I hate it, I probably would do it again. My issues have been confined to consumable suspension components and bolts so easy enough to sort. It's just that the consumables get consumed a lot faster. ;D

Those rust buckets might be 10+ years and neglected. The comparison is with well maintained cars that are <10yo - something worth bringing over.

Its not a big problem in the UK, they just send them to the wreckers and buy a new one! Very jealous of the second hand parts available over there. The UK forums are great for trouble shooting, seems the climate or something else has them premature aging so whenever I have a problem I know I can find a fix there.. much like our harsh sun has Kiwi's premature aging.

Welcome along anyway, hope you don't think we are a bunch of whingers, we love patina as much as the next forum.
