Hey guys and gals, I'm back in the world of Frenchies.
Having just bought an '89 bx GT 16v.

Does anybody know the history on OH1588??

I'll try to put some pics up at some point.

Cheers.

Mungous

Woo-hoo! Another 16v!! 😃

Awesome!
Hmmm that plate seems familiar though I can't pick why. Where did you purchase it from?

I bought it off my brothers mate here in Dunedin, but I think he said it was from Palmy?

Pee Dubbaya

It might have been from around Palmy that I knew it...

Yeah another Bx 16v....Pics pretty please   ;D

Puglet

Red one. I'll try to get some pics up tonight.
Just need to put some rego on it.
Also what oil do you jokers recommend for the old valver. It has 305k km on it but doesn't seem to burn any. Adlams in wellywood did a service on it a few hundred kms ago but it's about halfway above min. No record of what was used though?

Mungous

Don't use the modern super-thin stuff.  15w50 or thereabouts seems to work well with mine.  I use Penrite ten tenths synthetic in my race car, but for road use I wouldn't bother.  Any reputable brand will be fine.

A phase 1 in red?  Not the most common colour!  But NZ-new.  :D

Sounds like it might be Ade the cheesemaker's old one?

#11
Similar but silver alloys and different plate.

Also I notice Citroen recommend 15-40 or 20-50 oil wise.

Mungous

Looks great!! Is the paint as good as it looks?!

Yeah anything anything round that viscosity will be fine. The XUs aren't really that sensitive as a rule, but the hydraulic lifters in the J4 don't like anything thinner.

Yea, the paint is pretty much mint, apart from the odd stone chip and slight fading on the rear quarters/hatch.

Cool, will give me something to do this weekend then. :D

Pee Dubbaya

That car looks so familiar, but I still can't pick where from!
I've been using Castrol GTX 15w40 in my j4-engined 205 with no problems for a few years now (touch wood).
