Hey guys,

Been a big fan of the Citroën/Peugeot's for a while. First car I ever learned to drive in was a 1993 Peugeot 306 TD that my Mum owned, and I loved it despite it's nickname 'sandy the tractor.' I had been eyeing up Citroën BX's since I was in high school though, and I finally got one in 2012. It's a 1992, red TGD 1.9, called Colette. (Was unsure, but is that the same engine as the 306 TD of the same era?)

At the time I was a student, so I had to wait until I could afford a cheap enough one so consequently she was a little banged up when I got her. Since then I've sort of slowly done lots of reparation work (hydraulic tubes cracking, hydraulics, diesel leaks, speedos breaking, alternator, etc). While Colette has a fading paint job, been keyed, had attempted break-ins, several parts are dented etc - she runs like a dream. The engine is perfect, and I've done about 60k since owning it going cross country. Every time I think about trading up (because I initially wanted a BX Gti/16v or a black BX), I get really sad and can't imagine not having my car. This is when I knew I was definitely hooked for life on Citroën BXs. I just need a proper house to have a few it seems.

I currently live in Wellington, but have been located in Whanganui and New Plymouth. There was quite a strong Citroën presence in Taranaki which was nice, but usually most people in my peer group don't really understand why I'd own such an 'old cruddy car' when I could have "like a newer one."

Welcome.

Was amazed with the enthusiasm for French cars in the naki. Good to see fans of the brand.

Enjoy.

Got to love those crappy old BXs! 🙂 I got my first one back in the late 90s, and haven't been without one since.

Good luck with keeping yours on the road!
