Hey guys,

New here and new to the french car scene! Have always had an interest in Peugeots (205 GTI) and a slight change in circumstances has allowed me to start thinking about possibly getting into one. Would be open to advice of things to look out for when purchasing etc. Will also be having a look around to read up as much as I can myself.

Cheers :)

Welcome - unfortunately this forum is pretty dead! Good luck finding a 205GTi, very rare car :)

Welcome along, good have a new convert! The French have made some great cars over the years, and the 205 GTI is right up there with the best. There's quite a few about in NZ, but they don't change hands that often.
I'd recommend an enthusiast owned car as generally any issues tend to get addressed properly. They're pretty simple cars, look out for bodged repairs and buy on overall condition - most things can be fixed, it's just time and money!

Don Simon on here is selling one at the moment - it's a sorted car and would be a good purchase if your budget stretches (prices for good cars have gone up quite a bit in last few years) https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/peugeot/auction-2024932535.htm

Most active forum members have migrated to using a Facebook group and check here infrequently. If you're genuinely keen to part of the group ask for an add on Facebook.
205 GTI isn't so rare, just don't change hands that often like they perhaps used to. You have to keep an eye up for when they pop up for sale, and be prepared to fork out a bit more for a good one.
