hi all,
just stumbled on the forum (via trademe).... nice!
i'm looking for a pug - i had a 306 xsi in 2003 for a bit over a year - initially just as wheels, but maybe later for a bit of track/targa if i ever get funds, time and parts together
as it happens i just test-drove my old 306! the only question is whether to go for it or not, as the it has had a new clutch and it feels a bit iffy to me - loads of play in the pedal (maybe just adjustment needed) and the bite is nearly on the floor. the seller says it wasn't a pug dealer or pug clutch, but that it's been fine for a few months.
anyone mechanically inclined able to comment?
anyone care to suggest a cheap and suitable alternative for getting into racing?
cheers,
will

thanks ....
looking for something under 5k (or there'll be trouble)
seller of the 306 seems genuine - he's leaving the country
just need to find a good mechanic in welly to keep it going, and maybe check it out before i part with any cash!

well spotted! yes it is a 5 gordini. sadly not mine - but i am driving it in the pic, at ruapuna in chch - what a hoot. don't think i quite got it onto 3 wheels, but i reckon it was close. a renault 5 was the first car i ever drove (not a gordini) but it brought back memories of a mis-spent youth. amazing how much fun a 1.1 motor was when i was 17! shame the youth now miss out with the evos and wrxs....
