The 16v has made it on its maiden voyage to Feilding.  Also had a bit of fun from Vinegar Hill to Cheltham,

nice roads thru there. sometimes i used to leave feilding but not turn off at cheltenham, or wherever it is, and join hiway 1 at mangaweka. its a good drive if you dont mind your whip gettin all dirty

Bugger, yes I was going to take that road on the way back as was told alot of motor bikes like to take that ride through. Ahh next time  ;)

Thought I would show a couple of pics of some lovely scenary on the way down to Palmy, but the car kept jumping in front of the camera ::)

Have to say, one of the best drives I have done in a while. She handled so well even when I pushed her quite hard. No over heating, no strange noise, very comfortable all in all AAA+++.

Extra bonus..... just worked out that the car did 410 miles (not 410kms as prevouisly thought) on one tank of Gas which is about 660kms to a full tank which is 66 ltrs....1 litre per 10kms :)

Down side is I thought I brought a car that had done 187kms which is really now 300kms :(

Hey Cam, I'm new to this site too but not new to 16V's.
Looks like you've got hold of a nice one there - I've always liked them in white.
Sounds like you've also been bitten by the 16V bug.
You'll hear lots of jokes about poor reliability and bits falling off them but as you have discovered you get one in it's natural habitat - travelling medium to long distance on the open road and you fall in love.
I once had the pleasure of driving mine non-stop (literally) from Wellington to Auckland, enabled by two things 1. the unusually large fuel tank meant I didn't need to stop for gas and 2. my wife was already in Auckland so there were no 'comfort stops' required.
It was 6.5 hours of uninterrupted driving pleasure, on the western lake road (the one you have pics of) and round through Matamata to avoid the main traffic flows.
I got to Auckland and apart from needing a toilet stop myself, I could of turned around and come all the way back again.
They're such an awesome car on a trip like that, the perfect mix of supreme comfort, good cornering and awesome acceleration for overtaking - especially uphill.
You don't realise how good the seats are until you hop into something else after driving the BX for a while.
Enjoy your car, and after a few trips I'm sure your wife will appreciate it too.
Cheers.

Thanks mate

I was not expecting to be "bitten by the bx bug" as you say, as my intentions were to buy a cheap run about but something that had a bit of go and was a little different to my normal buying car procedure eg fast, espensive $ jap.
Yes its not perfect and I have slowly started to replcae parts, even though I said I would not as its probably not worth spending to much on. But I cant help it she's such a pretty car and needs all the attention I can give her LOL well im sounding like a right bx freak!!!
You have a real nice BX16v there and like everyone has said really low ks. I am moving down to Palmy at the end of the year to live so I look forward to meeting you on the the rest of the lower North Island FF's campaign.

I think you might be right there Griffe. There seems to be a few cars that are sitting about that guys may require parts from to make a good one or just to spruce up there pride and joy.

Maybe the "FastFrogs Horde Collection" LOL

Hey Cam, how did you get on with your tyre selection?

I used to always run Michelin (kind of belong on a french car), the Pilot MXV 3A V-rated ones which weren't cheap.
I had been advised that if you put lower rated tyres on your car than the manufacturers original spec's you ran the risk of your insurance company declining any claim. The insurance market is probably a bit more user friendly these days, but it used to be they would look for any excuse to turn you down.

Had to look for alternatives when Michelin stopped making that tyre in the right size. Currently running Pirelli P6000's after trying Pirelli's on the 309. The P6000's have lasted well and I've had no reason to doubt them on the corners.

My 2c.

Yeah tyres? hell they dont make to many good tyres in 14" do they! I want to stick with the original rims because they look good.

Options -

Nankang - XR611
Goodyear - goodride/assurance
Dunlop - lemans LM600
Falken - ze329
Yokohama - adrive/cdrive
Pirelli - P6000
Bridgestone - Guardian/Turanza
Hankook - Ventus r-s2 z212/optimo K406

At the moment on lending towards dunlops? mayne I need to start a poll on tyres as there seems to be a large debate on this.
