16Saupapes

Hi,

I saw a sticker advertising the site on the back window of a Peugeot 306 that turned up in our workshop the other week for some minor work.
I am an ex Citroen mechanic of 7 years with alot of experience on Peugeot and the like as well.
I have a 1989 series one BX 16valve that has been fitted with series two front and rear bumpers along with side strips etc. The reason behind this was that the car was written off very early in its life and has had everything forward of the windscreen replaced structure wise. The roof was pushed up and the floor down etc. Pritty major work but when you consider these were $55k cars at the time, worth it.
in this job, the car was fitted with a new dash (hence the 16 saupapes badge) and so doesnt suffer the cracked pannel trouble of most BX's.
Since getting it, I have fitted 15" ROH Astron wheels (from a Xantia so have the chevrons in the middle), fitted a chip and lowered it slightly.
The car used to be white and was painted black after the accident so the paint is getting a little tired in places.
She has just over 265000km on the clock and doesnt use any oil etc. I have just fitted a new clutch, radiator and had a new high pressure line made from the pump to the flow devider as the old one kept splitting.
Will post pictures at some point when I can but am interested in this outing for 16v's on the 11th in Wellington?
Thanks, Simon.
PS the green BX you speak of with the leather interior is or was a nelson car and was a special order. It used to be shipped up to us for servicing.
Also the reason for the leaking sunroofs in ths model are blocked drains. These can be accessed behind each tail lamp and above the interior kick pannels in the front foot wells. Simply pull out the ends and blow compressed air back up them. This should sort the problem out. Should this fail, you may need to seal the sunroof up.

Hey Simon, great that you joined up.
Another 16 valver in Wellington - Awesome!
Sounds like a nice car, be keen to see some pics.
Are you still working on cars (for a job) or given that away?

Forgot to add, good tip on the sunroof drains. The other blockage issue in a similar location is the rear window washer. I thought about the compressed air trick but apparently there is a join in the hose just below the washer nozzle that if you blow it apart will end up sending water into the headlining.

Anyone else had this issue, or a solution?
