Hey there Ade, welcome to the site.

It's good to see another 16V joining the fray, at this rate we'll have NZ's share of road going 16V's all in the lower north island before long!

It's encouraging to know there's still a good pool of knowledge about these vehicles if you know where to look.

My BX is currently awaiting some minor WoF related repairs but I may see you at a FF meet soon.

Please post some photos when you get a chance.

Cheers, Nick.

I also need an oil filler pipe (between oil filler and sump) since I broke the side branch off due to age and heat-hardened rubber. The dealers want $180 for a new one from France (bugger that). Someone told me a bloke called pete on this forum had some pipes made up for a Pug Mi16 that should fit the BX. Does anyone know about this?
PMed!

Did you get the black one off a guy in Western Springs?

Ade

No, I got a red one off a guy in Palmy.

Here's a pic of my BX as it was when I bought it.

Now it's in pieces in the shed much to my wife's displeasure ("I wish you'd bought an Odyssey").

Gotta give them something to complain about!

Cheers,
Ade

Yeah some awesome roads round Manawatu when you get off the straights. There r a coupla good 'uns round Pohangina from memory in the little valleys. Also if you go north from Palmy I used to always would take the road over Mt Biggs. It joins back with the SH that takes you round the mount and is so much more betterer for fasts.

That's certainly a nice looking car, had a few people on this site drooling when it was on TM a few months back.

Great that it's made its way into the FF fold one way or another!

Got a friend in Palmy who was keen on it too but couldn't sell his other vehicle quick enough.

Good luck with the parts you're after and hope to see you at a meet.

I saw this in palmy just before it went up on TM. It's got a badge on the back which is a silhouette of france in the French colours? I want one!

It's in pieces because I wanted to replace the cambelt, so I merrily pulled it all apart but haven't yet been able to find tensioners at a reasonable price. I priced SKF today and they were $98 each +GST +freight from Singapore. SPEED are about $110+. How does $300 for a distributor cap and rotor sound? or $300 for a set of ignition leads? Bloody highway robbery in disguise. I'm going to place an order with GSF in the UK, so am trying to think of a few other things to get to spread the cost of the freight.

I'm also waiting to buy a new sound system to  install while the dash is in pieces (for replacing the heater valve) - any suggestions? I'm ignorant when it comes to car sound, I just want to listen to the radio and plug in my ipod (wireless would be even better), dont care about CD's.

The car looks good in the photos - unfortunately the paint is really thin and oxidised on the other side, so much so that it won't cut out with polish. It must have been in a prang sometime and repainted on that side. At some time a full repaint will be needed.

Apart from that the car is fairly straight. I'd love to do a total restore someday but that will have to wait for more time and money.

Cheers,
Ade

I have a near-new Mi16 distributor cap and rotor, just not the rear plastic triangular bit. Let me know if you want it (for quite a lot less than $300 ;))

A decent Pioneer/Alpine headunit alone should be sufficent for sound, imo. I wouldn't bother replacing the speakers unless they're poked, I'd be surprised if you could hear a difference in quality in a car. You'd need a decent amp and speakers before I think you'd notice the difference. I don't personally think it's worth the money.
